Membership Fees

1. Each Individual Team Membership Fees for the 2023-2024 Season: 

(Boys)

  • Grade 3 to Grade 8 - $4450 
  • Grade 9 to Grade 12 - $4450 

 Included in the CYBL registration fees are the following:

 

GRADE 4 – 8 (Boys)  

  • 16 Regular Season games and a minimum of 4 games in the ‘Showdown’ Championship Tournament (20 minimum in total)
  • CYBL ‘Showdown’ Championship Tournament (every team qualifies)
  • Insurance (coverage in North America) – Please contact Sophia Brown at sophiabrown@cybl.ca for additional information  
  • High quality gymnasiums (Universities, Colleges and High Schools)
  • Certified Referees (Ontario Association of Basketball Officials)
  • FIBA is the official playing rules – with some modifications (please see below) 
  • All regular season games are scheduled by the CYBL

 

GRADE 9 – 12 (Boys)

  • 12 Regular Season games and a minimum of 4 games in the ‘Showdown’ Championship Tournament (16total)
  • CYBL ‘Showdown’ Championship Tournament (every team qualifies)
  • Insurance (coverage in North America) – Please contact Sophia Brown at sophiabrown@cybl.ca for additional information  
  • High quality gymnasiums (Universities, Colleges and High Schools)
  • Certified Referees (Ontario Association of Basketball Officials)

  • All regular season games are scheduled by the CYBL

2. CYBL teams are permitted to play against any other team in any other league including US competition.

3. Admission - $15.00 per day or $25.00 for the weekend (participating athletes, a maximum of 3 coaching/manager staff members per team, and children under 10 are FREE)

4. Player Registration - CYBL teams must have a minimum of 8 and maximum of 15 registered players on each team. The CYBL must receive the full name and date of birth for each player when registering. Please Note: Each team must submit final rosters by the specified timeframe – at the end of Session 3 for Grades 4-8 and at the end of Session 2 for Grades 9-12.

5. The official playing rules will be FIBA with an added shot clock for Grades 11-12 (24 seconds with a 14 second reset). The key will be defined by the rectangle, rather than the trapezoid. Two free throws will be attempted following the 10th foul in each half.

6. CYBL teams will compete for the ‘Showdown’ Championship in a bracket based on rankings from the regular season standings. The top 2 teams will receive individual medals, team trophies, and a banner for the Champions. There will also be an MVP and 5 All-Star awards given out for each division.
